Join the MJWA crew on what is expected to be, one of the most fun and enjoyable 2-day events on the Mini Jet WA calendar.

The crew will meet on Saturday morning at the Sunnyside Campgrounds outside of Bridgetown and launch from the river’s edge before making their way upriver to the beautiful Winnejup Falls. Refer to the yellow course on the river map. They’ll regroup before making their way back downstream to the launch point. This leg will be repeated throughout the day.

This stretch of river provides a taste of what is to come with the Avon Descent and allows plenty of no-pressure training and learning of what river work is all about.

On Sunday the crew will run the full river from the launch point at Sunnyside, up to the falls and back down, past the campground, and all the way to Bridgetown (stop before the main bridge). Refer to the red course on the river map. This is where the expedition ends and the vessels are removed from the banks of the river at the Bridgetown Riverwood Park.

The downstream leg presents some amazing opportunities for log jumping, road crossings, and a fantastic rapids section into the basin.

This event is not a race, moreover, an opportunity to get some training on the river. There may be log jumps, rockslides, and winching is likely, and the aim is to have fun and obtain river experience. No one will be left behind.

This event is water level dependent and will be assessed on the event day for practicality.

Meet-up point
Sunnyside Campground. Turn left off Tweed Road approximately 18km from the turn off the South Western Hwy. Look out for the MJWA sign at the turn-in point.

Requirements

A compulsory driver briefing and vessel scrutineering kicks off 08.00am – all craft must attend and be in race prep condition as per the rules.
Full river equipment is required.
Access to the start pond is via a dirt track that can be slippery so 4×4 is recommended.
A support crew per craft is mandatory for this event as there are some significant challenges on day 2 as we progress to Bridgetown.
