Round 1, Done and Won

January 18 was the first round of the MJWA circuit series kicking off with a splash at Mangles Bay!
It was fantastic to see so many members and boats show up and put on a hard day’s racing.
Group A and B had some hard-fought races with the times falling all day and leaders swapping almost every round.
Group B as always turns on a show too, such evenly matched boats making for some exciting spectator viewing.
Superb to see some new boats on the water from Troy and Lee and the long-awaited return of our secretary Pat running hard in group B along with Chris in the Pump Action craft back on the water after a short hiatus!
We managed to get in some lady’s runs in the afternoon and it looks like we will now also be focussed on a junior class in the coming season with plenty of our younger members taking the wheel and starting to learn the ropes in a controlled and safe environment.
Final placings for the day:
Group A
1st – Troy Rowe in the beautiful 15F CustomCraft
2nd – Haden Bayliss in the GP1200 weapon
3rd – Chris Coves in the 15F Pump Action
Group B
1st – Pat Williams in the 760 Hewitt
2nd – Markus Christie in His Formula Mini
3rd – Nathan Ditchburn in the long awaited return of the Zilla Formula Mini
Well done to all and those who showed up and enjoyed a beautiful day on the water with the MJWA fam
and a special mention to our timekeepers and volunteers on the day

We turn our attention now to round 2, the MJWA Enduro to be held at Burswood on Feb 7th from 12pm
