What a fantastic long weekend with the MJWA Family kicking off in the beautiful Shire of Nannup.
Saturday morning saw the teams gather for scrutineering and a driver briefing before setting off on the first leg of 42km. Everyone got away cleanly under the watchfully eye of the starter as we ran a new handicap format.
First stop at Jalbarragup saw 165 ahead of 078 by 1 measly second
and the hard charging 131 landing in third. All boats made it to the stop before a refuel and set off at 12pm towards Sue’s Bridge.
The run to Sue’s was fast and technical with Everyone enjoying the high water and fast pace. Again 165 just beat 078 to the podium with 131 hot on the heels
Sunday kicked off from Sue’s with a 62km leg home to be the decider for the weekend. 131 had to retire due to illness so the top spots were all open.
All boats had a fast and trouble-free run to Molloy Hideaway Holiday Park for a finish and some locals to get up close with the boats and crews.
It was fantastic to have the support of 7NEWS Regional WA covering our event for the weekend, we are proud to have you guys covered our events.
Special thanks to our crews, time-keepers and supporters, you guys are invaluable, and we can’t thank you enough, and extra shout out to our amazing sweeps for the weekend in 080, you guys are superstars

It’s worth mentioning that Troy had a mech issue in leg 1 and then both Brad and Troy had a speed breakout costing them both river positions over the weekend

A special mention to Gentronics and OneGas for providing everyone with a fantastic event bag of goodies and things for the kids

All in all it was a huge weekend of logistics, racing and most importantly smiles per gallon of fuel burnt
